The Lemongrove was founded in 1993 as a jazz trio with the sole intention of playing good music well.
Originally only intended to be a `hobby` band as a playing alternative to Andy & Jim`s other band, the very successful `Street Level`, Lemon Grove took over.
The name taken from an advert seen on the side of a l930s racing `The Lemongrove Plating Co`, the bands popularity has grown and grown. Recent success has seen them supporting some popular names on the jazz festival circuit such as Courtney Pine and Barbara Dennerlein to mention a few.
Christchurch's version of Harry Connick Jnr Andy Collins fronts the band in an eclectic mix of jazz standards. Foot-tapping, sometimes outrageous, always good fun, The Lemon Grove are a band surely not to be missed.
