Stompin' on the Quomps Community Interest Company is the organisation behind the event.
Stompin' was originally conceived as a community event by the late Suzette Sulley and Adrian Dwyer, and sponsored by The Regent Centre.
In the first couple of years Stompin' was part of the Christchurch Regatta, but rapidly outgrew that event to become what is today one of the key dates in Christchurch's calendar.
In 2006 a small but dedicated committee took over the responsibility for running the event from the Regent Centre and whilst remaining true to the original concept, have expanded it each year.
By 2007 the event was attracting 4-5,000 people and in June 2009 a not-for-profit company was registered with Companies House.
Stompin' on the Quomps is financed through sponsorship and donations from the audience. Christchurch Council provides a range of services that make the event run smoothly.
